This record-breaking innings helped South Africa to 439/2, the fifth-highest ODI total of all time. South Africa won the game by 148 runs.

2) Corey Anderson (NZ): 36 balls (vs West Indies, Queenstown 2014)

Before AB de Villiers' unbelievable knock, New Zealand's Corey Anderson held the record for scoring the fastest ODI century. He reached the 3-figure mark in just 36 balls against the West Indies at Queenstown in 2014. Anderson remained unbeaten on 131 off 47 balls at a strike rate of 278.72, and New Zealand won the match by 159 runs.

3) Shahid Afridi (PAK): 37 balls (vs Sri Lanka, Nairobi 1996) 

Former Pakistan player Shahid Afridi held the record for scoring the third-fastest century in ODI cricket. He held the record for almost 18 years. Batting against Sri Lanka in 1996, he made 102 runs with the help of 6 fours and 11 sixes at a strike rate of 255. Pakistan scored 371 runs and beat Sri Lanka by 82 runs.

4) Glenn Maxwell (AUS): 40 balls (vs Netherlands, Delhi 2023)

Australia's Glenn Maxwell scored the 4th-fastest ODI century of all time against Netherlands during the 2023 Cricket World Cup match in Delhi. Coming in the 37th over, Maxwell played at a strike rate of 240.91 and hit 8 sixes and 9 boundaries. His innings helped the Australia team score 399 runs and eventually win the match by a massive 309 runs.
