Highest Individual T20 World Cup Score by a Batsman

Brendon McCullum (New Zealand): 123 vs Bangladesh (2012)

Batting on a difficult pitch, where Bangladesh made just 132 runs in their 20 overs and other New Zealand batters struggled, McCullum made the highest score in t20 by a player in World Cups. His innings had it all – cover drives, pulls, reverse sweeps, glances and straight sixes. His 58-ball 123 alone was nearly too much for Bangladesh to get past.

Chris Gayle (West Indies): 117 vs South Africa (2007)

The opening match of the first T20 World Cup pitted hosts South Africa against West Indies. Opening the batting, Chris Gayle showed the world why he was going to be the master of the T20 format. His 57-ball assault fetched him 117 which included 10 massive sixes. Sadly for him and the West Indies, South Africa chased down successfully with 16 balls to spare.

Alex Hales (England): 116* vs Sri Lanka (2014)

Given a target of 190 to win and reduced to 0-2, Alex Hales played an innings of a lifetime. Hales cared for no reputation be it Nuwan Kulasekara, Lasith Malinga or Ajantha Mendis. He cut, drove and clouted the ball with enormous power. His 64-ball knock ensured that England won the match with 4 balls to spare.

Ahmed Shehzad (Pakistan): 111* vs Bangladesh (2014)

Ahmed Shehzad is the only Pakistan batter to score an international hundred in the T20 World Cup. This innings was all the more impressive because Bangladesh’s two main spinners, Shakib Al Hasan and Abdur Razzaq, controlled the innings for quite some time. Shehzad struck 10 fours and 5 sixes in the 62 balls that he faced.

Riley Rossouw (South Africa): 109 vs Bangladesh (2022)

Riley Rossouw became the first South Africa cricketer to score a century in the T20 World Cup as he led the side to a win over Bangladesh in 2022 T20 World Cup. Rossouw's 109 was packed with 7 fours and 8 sixes and led the team to a huge total of 205 runs, which they defended easily. He is the second player to score a T20I century in back to back matches.
