On 17 Feb. 2023 The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the complete schedule of the Indian T20 League 2023.

Start and End Date of the Indian T20 League 2023 Season

The 16th season of the Indian T20 league tournament will start on 31st March 2023, with a blockbuster clash between defending champions Gujarat and 4-time winners Chennai at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad (largest cricket stadium in the world) 7:30 PM IST. The final is scheduled for 28th May 2023 at the same venue.

Groups for the Indian T20 League 2023: Team List

Like last season, the teams have been divided into two virtual groups based on the number of titles and finals played. Mumbai, the 5-time champions, are in Group A, with two former champions Kolkata and Rajasthan, 2-time finalists Delhi, and Lucknow team. On the other hand, Group B includes 4-time winners Chennai alongside Hyderabad, Gujarat, 3-time finalists Bangalore, and Punjab.

But unlike last season, each team will play the five teams of the other group twice and the other four teams from their own group once. Each team will play a total of 14 matches in the group stage.

Venues for the Indian T20 League 2023 

The league returns to its traditional home-and-away format for the first time since 2019. Ten regular home venues - Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Lucknow, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Jaipur and Mohali - and two secondary venues - Guwahati, and Dharamsala will be used this season.

Rajasthan team will play their first two home games in Guwahati and the remaining five in Jaipur. On the other hand, Punjab will play their first five home matches in Mohali and the last two in Dharamsala.

Indian T20 League 2023 Complete Match Schedule

70 group matches will be played across 12 venues from March 31 to May 21, followed by 4 play-offs. There will be 18 double headers, with the day games starting at 3:30 PM IST and evening matches starting at 7:30 PM IST. 

The clash between Mumbai and Rajasthan on April 30 will be the 1000th match in the league since its beginning in 2008
