16 July 2023 Somerset beat Essex by 14 runs in the final of the T20 Blast 2023. Matt Henry was the Player of the Match for his spell of 4/24. This is Somerset's 2nd T20 Blast title coming after 18 years (first in 2005). 

The 21st edition of the T20 Blast was played from 20th May 2023 to 15th July 2023 in England. Eighteen first-class county teams based in England and Wales will participate in the 2023 season. The first match of the 2023 T20 Blast was played between Derbyshire and Lancashire on 20th May 2023 at 7 PM IST at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground, Birmingham. 

It is a top-level Twenty20 competition in England and Wales, established in 2003 by the ECB. The season ends with 'Finals Day': a single day on which both semi-finals and the final are played at the same venue. Hampshire are the defending champions.

T20 Blast 2023 Schedule

The 2023 edition of the T20 Blast 2023 will have a total of 133 games (126 group-stage matches and 7 knockout fixtures). The top 4 teams from each group will qualify for the four quarter-finals, followed by two semi-finals, and the final. The Finals Day games will be played on 15th July 2023 at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground.

English T20 Blast 2023 Format

The 18 teams are divided into two groups - North and South - on the basis of geographical locations. Each team will play 14 group-stage matches, seven at home and seven away. The top 4 teams from each group qualify for the knockout stage.

Surrey won the inaugural season in 2003. Overall, the tournament has been won by thirteen different counties in the 20 seasons played. Leicestershire and Hampshire have won the competition three times each, the most for a team. Somerset have played more finals than any other team, winning in 2005 and 2023 and losing in the final in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2021.
