EVERTON VS. MANCHESTER UNITED: PREMIER LEAGUE | MATCH PREDICTION AND FANTASY FOOTBALL TIPS

EVERTON VS. MANCHESTER UNITED: PREMIER LEAGUE | MATCH PREDICTION AND FANTASY FOOTBALL TIPS

Manchester United travel to Merseyside to take on Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.

Everton had a spectacular start to the season with four wins on the trot. Since then, it has been a difficult run for them with 2 losses and 1 draw in their last three games. They are coming into this game with consecutive away defeats against Southampton (0-2) and Newcastle (1-2).

Although Everton are unbeaten at home this season with 2 wins and 1 draw in their three games at Goodison Park, the absence of key players such as J Rodriguez, Richarlison and L Digne has been felt in the last two games. They will be relieved to see L Digne back and hope to have a fit J Rodriguez back on the field.

Manchester United had a troublesome start to the season and have their fair share of issues to resolve. They are coming here on the back of two consecutive defeats. The Red Devils suffered a narrow 0-1 defeat against Arsenal last weekend and a shock 1-2 loss to debutants Istanbul Basaksehir in the UEFA Champions League.

Manchester United have only seven points from their opening six games. Two wins, one draw, and three losses. They can take confidence from the fact that both their wins have been away from home in the league so far.

A win here will take Everton to the top of the standings provisionally, whereas a win for Manchester United will take them off the lowly 15th place.

Match Facts

Everton have been unbeaten in their last three league games against Man Utd (W1 D2), with both games last season ending 1-1. Everton haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their last seven Premier League home games. The Toffees have conceded at least twice in each of their last four league games at Goodison Park.

D Calvert-Lewin has scored eight goals in his seven Premier League games this season, only failing to score in one game so far. He has scored in just one of his seven Premier League appearances against Man Utd, but it was in his last match against them (1-1 at Goodison Park, March 2020).

Manchester United have won more Premier League games against Everton than against any other side in the competition’s history (36). Also, their 16 wins at Goodison Park is the joint-most away wins for a club at a specific venue in the league.

After a run of scoring in 17 consecutive games, scoring 39 goals in the process, Manchester United have failed to score in their last two Premier League matches (0-0 vs Chelsea, 0-1 vs Arsenal).

B Fernandes has been involved in 12 goals in his nine Premier League away games so far (8 goals, 4 assists), only failing to have a goal involvement in one of those nine matches (against Crystal Palace in July). Marcus Rashford has been involved in six goals in his last four Premier League away games for Manchester United, scoring three and assisting three.

Match Prediction

After the two consecutive losses, Manchester United are under big pressure to get a positive result this weekend. This can have an impact on Solskjaer’s job as well.

Although this is early in the season, it is a precarious situation for Manchester United. They would want to ease the pressure a little bit here, and they have chances of a narrow victory in this game.
