New Zealand Announce 15-man Squad for the 2021 T20 World Cup

New Zealand have named a strong 15-man squad for the upcoming ICC World Cup, which will take place in the UAE and Oman from October 17 onward. Kane Williamson will captain the side and Tim Southee will be the vice captain at the mega tournament. However, two big names, Ross Taylor and Colin de Grandhomme did not get a place in the team.

Ross Taylor is the third-highest run scorer for the Black Caps in T20Is, having scored 1909 runs in 102 matches with 7 half centuries, but has not featured in the shortest format since November 2020. All-rounder Colin de Grandhomme is a hard-hitting batter and a good pace option in the middle overs. He has played 36 T20Is, scoring 487 runs and taking 11 wickets.

The bowling department consists of three spinners, including Ish Sodhi, Mitchell Santner, and Todd Astle, and four frontline seamers, including Trent Boult, Tim Southee, Kyle Jamieson, and Lockie Ferguson. The all-round options include James Neesham and Daryl Mitchell. Pacer Adam Milne has been named as an injury cover for the World Cup squad. The same 15-member squad will also play India in the 3-match T20I series after the tournament.
