30 players were nominated for this year's Ballon d'Or, and Lionel Messi won a record-extending eighth Ballon d'Or. Messi has scored 42 goals (26 assists) and led Argentina to their 3rd World Cup win in Qatar in December, 2022. Erling Haaland was second, with 52 goals in a treble-winning season for Manchester City.
