HYDERABAD VS. CHENNAI: INDIAN T20 LEAGUE, MATCH 29 | MATCH PREDICTION AND FANTASY CRICKET TIPS

The round of reverse fixtures starts as Hyderabad take on Chennai in match 29 at the Dubai International Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Both the teams are currently in the bottom half of the points table. Hyderabad sits fifth with three wins and four losses whereas Chennai sits seventh with just two wins out of the seven matches played.

When these two sides met in match 14 at the same venue, Hyderabad emerged victorious by seven runs, successfully defending a total of 164.

Hyderabad is in much better shape now. The team combinations and strategies look fairly settled. The youngsters on the team like P Garg, A Sharma, and A Samad have played 5-7 games and are contributing to the team’s success.

D Warner is back to form after being quiet in the first few matches. Since the last match against Chennai, he has scored 160 runs in three innings with two fifties. J Bairstow has also played a 97-run innings in the same duration. With M Pandey, K Williamson, and R Khan all at their best, it will not be easy for Chennai.

Chennai have not looked their usual self, with questions being raised about players on the team and out on the bench. They have lost all their matches while chasing, which tells us a few things about the current state of the team’s batting. F du Plessis has been the only bright spot in the otherwise mediocre-looking batting department.

The bowling has fared well compared to the batting and restricted opponents to generally par scores. The highest score Chennai have conceded is 178 except the 216 at Sharjah, which can be termed an outlier score given the dimensions of the venue.

With the chances of qualifying getting slimmer with each passing match, we should be in for a very exciting contest between the two teams.

Pitch Report

The Dubai International Cricket Stadium has witnessed exciting matches in the last few games.

The batsmen have done well to counter the new-ball movement before going big toward the end of the innings. The spinners should also have a say in this game, although the square boundary dimensions do make it more challenging.

Both teams will ideally want to bat first as the team chasing has won only two matches out of the twelve at this venue.

Anything around 170 should be a competitive score, keeping both the teams interested equally.

Key Players

  • F du Plessis has missed out in the last couple of matches and would like to start scoring again.
  • D Chahar will be important with the new ball. Expect him to pick up a few wickets in the power play overs.
  • M Dhoni will look to come up the order and control the middle phase of the innings better.
  • D Warner is back to his Purple Cap-winning form, scoring fifties on a regular basis.
  • With K Williamson’s ability to adapt quickly, he becomes important on a surface assisting pacers and spinners alike.
  • Rashid Khan is a champion T20 bowler and is picking up wickets consistently at an economy rate of less than 6 runs per over.
