Indian T20 League 2024
The Indian T20 League, termed as the richest, most sought after and toughest T20 tournament, is a multi-franchise T20 league based in India, played during the months of March, April and May.
The first edition of the league took place in 2008. The league expanded last year, with 2 more teams added to the previous eight teams taking part in the Indian T20 League 2022. This means more matches, more excitement and more fantasy T20 cricket.
As the new season is almost upon us and starting on March 23, let’s take a look at the Indian Premier T20 League’s history, the teams, previous winners and much more.
Indian T20 League Format
With 10 teams in the tournament, teams will be divided into 2 groups. Teams from the same group play with each other once in a round-robin format in the group stage. Teams from different groups will meet twice during the group stage.
After the group stage, the top four teams in the points table qualify for play-offs. The format for play-offs is slightly different from the direct knockout format.
Indian T20 League 2024 Match Schedule
The Indian T20 League 2024 will begin on 23rd of March, and the final is scheduled for 26th of May. The day games have a start time of 3:30 PM IST, while the evening matches will start at 7:30 PM IST.

There will be a total of 10 teams, representing different cities or regions of India, that compete against each other in the tournament. The teams are owned by popular Bollywood celebrities, industrialists and other big names of the business world.

The Indian T20 League 2024 will begin on 31st of March, and the final is scheduled for 28th of May. The complete schedule for the upcoming edition was announced on 17 Feb. 2024.

3 teams - Chennai, Gujarat and Mumbai look the strongest teams on paper based on the auction. However, what happens when the tournament begins is anyone's guess.
10 teams will take part in the 2024 Indian T20 League. Two new teams, Lucknow and Gujarat joined the previous 8 teams before the 2022 season.
There will be 74 matches played - an increase of 14 games from the previous count of 60 matches. All teams will play 14 matches each in the group stages.
