Indian T20 League Bangalore Squad 2021

The Bangalore Team retained 12 players and released ten players before the 2021 season of the Indian T20 League. They have bought nine players in the 2021 Auction.

Bangalore Team Top Players

Below are the players in different categories that can be crucial to the team's chances in the 2021 season of the Indian T20 League.

Top Batters

    • Virat Kohli Only once in the last 6 years, when he was injured and missed several games in 2017, has he finished outside the top 10 run makers in a season. The first player to complete 6000 runs in the Indian T20 League, he has had an uncharacteristically poor 2021 season till now, with just 1 half century in eight games. Remember, this is the man who smashed 4 hundreds while making 973 runs in 2016. Despite all his records, though, Kohli has been unable to lead his team to the league title and in his final season as skipper, correcting that will be his priority. Read more..
    • Devdutt Padikkal His dazzling unbeaten 52-ball 101 against Rajasthan earlier this season merely confirmed what everyone knew in 2020, that this is a special young player. In 2020, his 473 runs included 5 half centuries, and so far this season, he has increased his strike rate by more than 20 runs per 100 balls. With Kohli and de Villiers well into their 30s, he could be the future face of the franchise. Read more..
    • Glenn Maxwell Now with his 4th team in 9 seasons, Maxwell has been one of the league’s enigmas. In 2014, while with Punjab, he made 552 runs at an incredible strike rate of 187.75. Since then, he has crossed 300 only once in a season. Franchises have paid eye-watering fees but have had little to show for it. Bangalore may have bucked that trend, with Maxwell already having made 233 runs this season. A 49-ball 78 against Kolkata was his highest score since 2014. Read more..

Wicketkeeper

    • AB de Villiers The 6th man to cross 5000 runs in the Indian T20 League, he is the only one on the list to do so with an average over 40 and a strike rate higher than 150. But you don’t need numbers to tell you how special he is. His matchless stroke play has inspired Bangalore victories twice already this year – a 34-ball 76* against Kolkata and 75* off 42 balls against Delhi. It’s no coincidence that he has made just 7 runs in Bangalore’s 3 losses so far. Read more..

All-rounder

    • Kyle Jamieson Though nearly 27, this is his first season in the Indian T20 League. In Tests, he has an eye-popping bowling average of 14 and has been nearly impossible to score off. But in the T20 format, his economy rate has been an issue. He already has 9 wickets for Bangalore, but conceding 9.5 runs an over throws the bowling plan out of sync. A spell of 3 for 41 against Kolkata earlier in the season hinted at the damage he could do. Read more..

Top Bowlers

    • Yuzvendra Chahal Into his 9th year with the Bangalore squad, Chahal has more than twice as many wickets as any other bowler. But after the best season of his career in 2020, when he picked up 21 wickets with a miserly economy rate of 7.08, Chahal has just 5 wickets to show after eight matches in 2021. That form has cost him a place in the Indian team, and he has much to prove as Bangalore seek a play-off berth. Read more..
    • Mohammed Siraj Having starred in impressive Indian Test victories in Australia and England, Siraj is showing off another facet of his game this season. He may only have 6 wickets to his name but he has bowled with superb control, as his economy rate of 7.25 illustrates. The pick of his spells was 3 for 27 against Rajasthan. Read more..
    • Harshal Patel It’s only in 2021 that Patel has been able to reproduce the form that put him in the spotlight in 2015. He has already matched his haul of 17 wickets from that season, though Bangalore will be hoping that he can improve on his economy rate of 9. He started the season with a stunning display, taking 5 for 27 and hitting the winning runs against Mumbai. Read more..
