Bangalore Indian T20 League Team
After a strong 2022 season, Bangalore’s attention will be on 2023, and how they can make it to the play-offs for the fourth year in a row and win it all. Faf du Plessis took over from long-time captain Virat Kohli last year and did a solid job throughout the season.
Other teams like Mumbai and Chennai may take that for granted, but Bangalore have been very inconsistent over the last 15 years. After losing a close final to Hyderabad in 2016, they finished last, 6th and last in the next three seasons respectively. Sanjay Bangar heads the coaching group and is assisted by former Indian international player Sridharan Sriram and Australian Adam Griffith in the batting and bowling departments.
Can Bangalore end their title drought and bring home the Indian T20 League trophy back home to its faithful fans? Only time will tell what the future holds for Team Bangalore in the 2023 edition.
Team Bangalore Origin
One of the founder-members of the Indian T20 League in 2008, Bangalore has the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in the heart of the city as their home ground. However, they have a mediocre record there, with just 42 wins in 86 games.
Team Bangalore Owners: Indian T20 League
Owned by United Spirits Limited, Bangalore are the fourth-most valuable franchise in the league, according to the latest figures published in 2022.
Faf du Plessis: Bangalore Team Captain
Even at the age of 38, Faf was one of the most dependable batters for the Bangalore team last year. He scored 468 runs at an average of 31.20, and a strike rate of 127.52. The South African batter is a technically strong player and can be a nightmare for bowlers once he gets into his groove.
Though he did not get selected for South Africa’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2022, a strong season performance in the Indian T20 League 2023 conveyed his message to South African team selectors.
