Delhi Indian T20 League Team
Initially one of the strongest teams in the Indian T20 League, Delhi went through 6 barren seasons after topping the points table in 2012. However, their fortunes changed once Ricky Ponting took charge as the coach in 2018. They reached the play-offs in 2019, and went a step better in 2020, losing a closely fought final to Mumbai.
Delhi will hope to ride on the consistency of skipper David Warner. Also, Prithvi Shaw and Mitchell Marsh are in the batting unit as well. Anrich Nortje will lead the bowling attack with Ishant Sharma for company.
Sourav Ganguly is the Director of Cricket, Ricky Ponting is the head coach and Shane Watson is the assistant coach. Can Delhi win their first Indian T20 League title? The next two months will tell.
Team Delhi Origin
Founded in 2008, the Delhi franchise underwent a rebranding exercise before the 2019 season. Though they’ve hosted home games at other venues like Raipur, their home ground for the most part has been the Arun Jaitley Stadium, formerly known as the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium.
Team Delhi Owners: Indian T20 League
The Delhi franchise is now owned by the GMR Group and the JSW Group, both of whom have an equal stake. According to the latest figures published earlier this year, Delhi is the fifth-most valuable franchise in the league.
David Warner: Delhi Team Captain
David Warner commenced his journey in the Indian T20 League back with Delhi in 2009. He returned to his old team in 2022, with loads of runs and a title win with Hyderabad.
Warner is the third-highest run getter in the history of the league and the highest overseas run getter. He is one of the most destructive openers across formats and he will be keen to make a mark as the captain of the team.
