Indian T20 League Hyderabad Squad 2021

The Hyderabad Team retained 22 players and released five players before the 2021 season of the Indian T20 League. They have bought three players in the 2021 Auction.

Hyderabad Team Top Players

Below are the players in different categories that can be crucial to the team's chances in the 2021 season of the Indian T20 League.

Top Batters

    • Kane Williamson Since making his debut for Hyderabad in 2015, only twice has Williamson played more than 10 games in a season. In 2018, with Warner absent, he was the leading scorer in the Indian T20 League with 735 runs. Last year, he made 317 runs in 11 innings, with 3 fifties. The four-foreigner rule has often restricted his opportunities, but with the captaincy now entrusted to him, we should get more chances to see the best of the elegant stroke player. Read more..
    • David Warner One of only 6 players to cross 5000 runs in the Indian T20 League, Warner’s average (42.22) is the highest of the lot. And among those 6 players, only AB de Villiers has scored faster than him. In his 6 full seasons with Hyderabad, Warner has never scored less than 500 runs in any season, and his strike rate has not dipped below 134. But 2021 has been a real struggle for him as he played 175 balls for his 193 runs in the first half of the season. After scoring a 55-ball 57 in a match his team lost to Chennai, Warner partly blamed his slow scoring for the defeat. Only a return to his old ways will give Hyderabad a chance to salvage the season. • Manish Pandey For someone who has played 151 games across 14 seasons, Pandey’s career never quite kept pace with the expectations created when he became the first Indian to score an Indian T20 League century in South Africa in 2009. A brilliant innings by him led Kolkata to the title in 2014, but by and large, Pandey has been overtaken by a younger power-hitting generation. So far this season, he has scores of 61* (44 balls) against Kolkata and 61 (46 balls) against Chennai, but he was also dropped for a couple of games because he wasn’t scoring fast enough. • Jason Holder Coming in as a replacement for Mitchell Marsh last season, Holder made a genuine impact with 14 wickets and 66 runs in 7 matches. With Bairstow now out of the picture in 2021, Holder should get more chances to add to his singular appearance, in which he took 3 for 30 against Bangalore. Read more..

    • Wriddhiman Saha After playing 11 games in his first season with Hyderabad in 2018, the signing of Bairstow saw Saha pushed to the fringes. But on his rare outings, Saha has served reminders both of his excellent glove work and his batting skills that saw him make 115* in the 2014 Indian T20 League final. In 2020, he made a 45-ball 87 against Delhi. As he approaches his 37th birthday, Hyderabad will hope he can rediscover such form. Read more..

Top Bowlers

    • Bhuvneshwar Kumar One of the main reasons for Hyderabad’s struggles this season has been Bhuvneshwar coming into the season on the back of yet another serious injury. After his Purple Cap seasons (2016 and 2017), when he took a total of 49 wickets, Bhuvneshwar has managed just 28 wickets in 36 games. In the five matches he has played this season, he has taken just 3 wickets with an economy rate of 9.10. Read more..
    • Rashid Khan Since his debut for Hyderabad in 2017, he has never taken less than 17 wickets in a season, nor has he had an economy rate over 7. His ability to take wickets and check runs was best illustrated when the UAE hosted the Indian T20 League last season. His 20 wickets came with an incredible economy rate of 5.37. In an otherwise miserable 2021 so far for the Hyderabad squad, Rashid has been the saving grace with 10 wickets. Read more..
