Lucknow Team Top Players

Below are the players in different categories that can be crucial to the team's chances in the 2022 season of the Indian T20 League.

Top Batters

    • KL Rahul Given his mind-boggling consistency over the past 4 seasons, it was no surprise when Lucknow made Rahul their first pick and team captain as well. In 2018, 2020 and 2021, he topped 600 runs for the season. In 2019, he made 593. Across those 4 seasons, there have been 2 centuries and as many as 23 half centuries. What’s been missing is the silverware and Rahul will hope that Lucknow have assembled a squad that can challenge for honors. On a personal level, he will want to add to the Orange Cap he won as the leading run scorer in 2020. Read more..
    • Manish Pandey Manish’s place in history is secure as the first Indian to score a century in the competition, at Centurion in 2009. But rather like his international career that never quite ignited, Pandey has struggled to put together eye-catching seasons. He won an Indian T20 League final for Kolkata in 2014 with a dazzling 50-ball 94, and each of his 4 seasons with the Hyderabad Team (2018-21) saw him make 3 half centuries, but only twice in 14 seasons has he made over 400 runs. • Evin Lewis With a six-hitting game modeled on Chris Gayle, his batting mentor, Lewis has a stunning strike rate of 155.51 after 50 matches for the West Indies. But after a two-year stint with the Mumbai Team and another season with Rajasthan, he has yet to crack the Indian T20 League code. There have been glimpses of his destructive potential, but 3 half centuries and a strike rate of 138 after 21 matches are below par for someone with the ability to transform matches. Read more..

    • Marcus Stoinis Stoinis has been one of the league’s nomads, with his journey taking him to Delhi, Punjab, Bangalore and Delhi again. At 32, Stoinis isn’t really a pick for the future either. He had one exceptional season with Delhi in 2020, when he scored 352 runs at a strike rate of 148.52 and took 13 wickets at an economy rate of 9.53. That aside, he hasn’t really done much justice to his undoubted ability. Read more..

    • Quinton de Kock After playing for Hyderabad, Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai, de Kock is now one of the key cogs for the new franchise Lucknow. He had his breakthrough season with Delhi in 2016, when he scored his only Indian T20 League hundred on his way to 445 runs. He scored more than 500 runs in both 2019 and 2020 as the Mumbai Team won back-to-back titles, but both he and the rest of the squad had a poor time in 2021. Lucknow represents a fresh start for him. Top Bowlers

    • Ravi Bishnoi Though Punjab haven’t challenged for the title since 2014, Bishnoi was one of the success stories that Anil Kumble could point to as the coach of the side. The leg spinner hasn’t been a prolific wicket taker – just 24 wickets in 23 matches across 2 seasons – but an economy rate of 6.95 tells you just how much control he gave his captain. Lucknow will need both wickets and containment from him, with none of their other spinners known for big wicket hauls either. Read more..
    • Andrew Tye The right-arm pacer is a seasoned T20 specialist with impressive numbers in the T20 format. He has 251 wickets in 182 T20s with the best figures of 5/17. Tye will join Avesh, A. Rajput, D.Chameera, and J.Holder in Lucknow's fast bowling department. Tye is also well versed with playing in the Indian T20 League. He has taken 40 wickets in the 27 matches including a hat-trick. Moreover, he is the Purple Cap Winner of the 2018 edition with the Punjab team. Read more..
    • Avesh Khan A key part of India’s Under-19 side at the 2016 World Cup, Avesh took time to find his feet in the Indian T20 League. In his first 4 seasons, he played just 9 matches and hardly made any impact. Then in 2021, with Ricky Ponting showing full confidence in his ability, Avesh had a superb season, taking 24 wickets with an economy rate of 7.37. Delhi’s loss is definitely Lucknow’s gain.
