Jos Buttler: The Finisher
Wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler is widely regarded as one of the biggest hitters of the ball in the white-ball format. Few would forget the innings Jos Buttler and his teammate Ben Stokes played in the final of the 2019 World Cup. The duo not only helped the England national team break the curse that had been lying heavy on their minds following the disappointment of the 2015 World Cup where they had failed to make it even to the knockout stages.
Buttler burst into the scene early, representing Somerset’s Under-13, Under-15 and Under-17 teams. He was handed his international debut in the shortest format of the game in 2011 in the home series against India and the West Indies. Though the series did not go that well for the right-handed batter, he got success during the Sri Lanka tour in early 2012. Subsequently, he was handed his ODI debut and has since never looked back.
He is no newcomer to the Indian T20 League scene, participating in the tournament since 2016. He was initially in the Mumbai team’s books but joined the Rajasthan team in 2018. The 31-year-old has been with them ever since and was one of the three players who were retained by the franchise before the 2022 auctions. Buttler won the Orange Cap in 2022, making 863 runs at a strike rate of 149.05 with 4 centuries and 4 fifties.

Jos Buttler - Key Skills and Strengths
Jos Buttler operates with over 100 strike rate in both formats of the game. He is known for his skills in finishing an innings no matter how difficult the situation is. Being a bottom-handed player, he prefers the long-on and mid-wicket to hit his sixes. Buttler makes good use of his wrists and closes the face of the bat slightly while making contact with the ball.
Along with that comes Buttler’s skills in wicketkeeping. The inclusion of the right-hander in the batting line-up means that the management can include an additional batter or a bowler to strengthen the respective areas. The 32-year-old is agile behind the wickets and can pull off brilliant dismissals.
