Mayank Agarwal - The Emerging Leader

Mayank Agarwal emerged in international cricket from the Indian T20 League.Agarwal modeled his game on the batting style of Virender Sehwag - but focusing more on stroke play. He further added elegance to his batting style and soon came under the spotlight. He was the 2010 Under-19 World Cup leading run scorer. An untimely injury to Prithvi Shaw meant that Mayank got the chance to earn his India Test cap in December 2018. He scored 76 runs in the first Test innings in Melbourne.

Unlike a few others such as Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill, Agarwal’s international debut for the senior team didn’t happen immediately. He was given the chance to play for the Bangalore team in the 2011 Indian T20 League. After playing for Bangalore and Delhi for three seasons each, he moved to Punjab in 2018 and captained the team for the 2021 and 2022 season. Mayank was bought by the Sunrisers Hyderabad Team in the 2023 auction.
