Men’s T20 Bash on Howzat

The Men’s T20 Bash is a professional twenty20 cricket league in Australia played during the summer by eight teams representing different regions of Australia. The premium men’s T20 league of the country started in 2011-12 and has completed nine seasons so far.

The Men’s T20 Bash replaced the Men’s T20 Cup, which featured six state teams and was held from 2005–06 to 2010–11. It is one of the two T20 cricket leagues, alongside the Indian T20 League, included in the top ten domestic sports leagues in terms of average attendance.

Each state's capital city has one team in the league, except for Sydney and Melbourne, which have two teams each. Because of that, Melbourne Derby and Sydney Derby matches are some of the most attended matches. The team names and colours are very vibrant and different. Out of the eight teams in the tournament, six have won the title at least once.

2020-21 Season

This year’s edition will be the tenth season of the Men’s T20 Bash, in which 61 matches will be played. The tournament is scheduled to start on 3rd December 2020 and conclude on 6th February 2021. Following a break in sports because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the league organizers are hopeful of holding matches in different cities and pulling crowds back into the stadiums.

Tournament Format

Each team plays with each team twice in a home-and-away round-robin format in the group stage, from where top five teams qualify for play-offs. The format for the play-offs was changed in the 2019–20 season and is different from the direct knockout format.
