Shikhar Dhawan – Gabbar

Left-handed opening batter Shikhar Dhawan burst into the international scene back in 2010, making his debut against Australia at Visakhapatnam. He had made his Indian T20 League debut two years earlier with the Delhi team, ending the season with 340 runs at an average of 37.77 and a strike rate of 115.25. He is the current skipper of the Punjab Team.

Dhawan’s Test debut in 2013 caught more attention as he managed to score the fastest century by any batter on debut. He finished with 187 runs from 174 balls, once again against Australia at Mohali. Since then, the five-feet eleven-inch opener has gone on to become a favorite of both the fans and his teammates, earning the nickname “Gabbar” in the process. His uniquely-styled mustache and his way of celebrating are unmatched in world cricket.

Aged 36, Dhawan is more mature as a player now and the way he takes forward his innings shows that. He prefers to build his innings rather than taking unnecessary risks and is a calming presence for youngsters around him. In the 2022 auction, the Punjab team finally secured his services for ₹8.25 crores.
