4 October 2024 New Zealand Women beat India Women by 58 runs in the 2024 Women's T20 World Cup. India will play its second group match against Pakistan on Sun, 6 Oct 2024 at Dubai from 3:30 PM IST.
BCCI announced India Women's 15-member squad for the upcoming edition of the Women's T20 World Cup, to be played in the UAE from 3 to 20 October 2024. Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the side, with Smriti Mandhana named vice-captain. India is looking to win their first ICC trophy.
Fourteen of the 15 players in the squad are the same as that of the recently concluded Women's T20 Asia Cup. Uma Chetry is the one missing out. Yastika Bhatia is picked in place of her. Spinner Shreyanka Patil is also chosen in the squad after her finger injury during the Asia Cup game against Pakistan.
Richa Ghosh is the first-choice wicketkeeper in the team. Asha Sobhana and Radha Yadav are the other frontline spinners, apart from Shreyanka. Deepti Sharma and Sajeevan Sajana are the spin-bowling all-rounders, while Pooja Vastrakar is the pace-bowling all-rounder in the squad.
Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues and Dayalan Hemalatha are the other specialist batters in the team, along with Harmanpreet and Mandhana. Arundhati Reddy and Renuka Singh are the three pacers. The three reserve players are Tanuja Kanwar, Uma Chetry and Saima Thakor. Raghvi Bist and Priya Mishra are the non-traveling reserves.
