Table-toppers Manchester City will take on Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening in the Premier League.

Manchester City have been in exceptional form, having won their last 15 games across competitions. They are coming here after a midweek 3-1 victory over Swansea City in the 5th round of the FA Cup. A win here will take them 8 points clear at the top of the table provisionally.

On the other hand, Tottenham are in midst of a poor run of form. They have lost 4 of their last 5 games in all competitions and are struggling to keep up with the top teams in the standings. A 5-4 loss at Everton in the 5th round of the FA Cup is the latest setback for Jose Mourinho and his team. A win here will take them to fifth position in the points table provisionally.

The head-to-head record in recent encounters has been close, with Man City winning 11 matches out of the last 20 games and Tottenham winning 7 matches. Only 2 games were drawn. However, Tottenham won the last 2 fixtures between the two teams by 2-0 each.

The previous meeting between the two teams took place in November last year and ended in a 2-0 victory at home for Spurs. H-Min Son and G Lo Celso scored the 2 goals and secured 3 points for their team.

Rivalry Stats

Since losing 0-2 to the Spurs in November, Manchester City have remained unbeaten in their last 14 Premier League matches (W12, D2) and have won their last 10 games in a row. The Citizens have conceded just 3 goals in their last 14 games, after having conceded 11 in their first 8 games this season.

Manchester City have won 7 of their last 10 Premier League home matches with Tottenham (D2, L1). However, the last match played between these two teams at this venue ended in a 2-2 draw.

Tottenham are looking to win away against both Manchester clubs in a single top-division season for the first time since 1959-60, following their 6-1 win at Old Trafford earlier in the season. The last side to do so in the Premier League was Liverpool in 2008-09.

Spurs have won just 1 of their last 6 Premier League away games (D3, L2), having won 4 games in a row before that. However, they haven’t lost consecutive away league games since a streak of 3 losses in October 2019.

H-min Son has scored 6 goals for Spurs in his last 8 appearances against Man City in all competitions. Only J Vardy (9) has scored more goals against City in this period.

Match Prediction

The two teams’ performance and run in the league has been drastically different since Tottenham’s triumph earlier in the campaign. Man City have been brushing aside every challenge lately and will be on the charge from the start.

Although Tottenham will take some confidence from their recent record against the hosts, it will be extremely challenging for them to disrupt City’s winning streak.

We expect to see no other result than a 16th consecutive triumph for Man City in this entertaining clash.
