MUMBAI VS. BANGALORE: INDIAN T20 LEAGUE 2021, MATCH 1 | TEAMS AND PLAYERS NEWS

The wait is almost over. The festival of cricket, the Indian T20 League is back. The 2021 edition will take off with the exciting opening clash between Mumbai and Bangalore, or you can say Rohit vs Virat on Friday, the 9th of April.

But these are tough times because of the pandemic situation. Many players have withdrawn from the tournament due to injuries, bubble fatigue, or other personal reasons. While some will be missing out on the initial few matches for one or the other reasons.

So, let's take a look at the complete list of players for each of the two teams that will be available for the opening match of the tournament.

Mumbai

Complete Squad

Mumbai has a relatively fit squad without any withdrawals ahead of the 2021 season. They may miss the services of star opener and wicketkeeper Quinton De Kock for the opening game of the season. He has taken a bubble to bubble transfer from South Africa and may not have to undergo the mandatory quarantine period. His availability will be a game-time decision. If required, Chris Lynn will play in place of him.

  • Players who'll miss the opening game: Adam Zampa, Kane Richardson, and Devdutt Padikkal (Covid-19)

Bangalore has no major player worries ahead of the opening game of the tournament. Last year’s recruit Josh Philippe has withdrawn from the 2021 season because of bubble fatigue. The team will also miss the services of Adam Zampa and Kane Richardson for the opening game season due to personal reasons.

The biggest miss will be the unavailability of Devdutt Padikkal, as he was their highest run-scorer last season. He was tested positive for COVID-19 in March but has now joined the team after testing negative and completing his quarantine. Padikkal has resumed training and his availability will be a game-time decision. If required, Mohammed Azharuddeen is expected to open the batting with captain Kohli.
