TONIGHT’S KOLKATA-BANGALORE MATCH POSTPONED DUE TO COVID-19

The COVID-19 crisis is at its peak in India and it has now affected the ongoing season of the Indian T20 League too. Half of the tournament has already been played without any issues, amid the surge in cases across the country. However, the 30th match between Kolkata and Bangalore, which was supposed to be played in Ahmedabad today evening, is now postponed. Two players of the Kolkata franchise have been tested positive for COVID-19.

It is understood that the two cricketers who have tested positive for COVID-19 are Sandeep Warrier and Varun Chakravarthy. According to the management, many players and staff members of Kolkata are currently "isolating" and "following the COVID protocols." As per the latest development, this match will be rescheduled with the rest of the tournament going as per schedule.

The source of the infection remains unclear. However, this is a massive setback for the organizers and raises questions about the tournament's safety and continuity. As many as five players, including Ravichandran Ashwin, Liam Livingstone, Andrew Tye, Kane Richardson and Adam Zampa, have already pulled out of the tournament due to various reasons concerning the current situation of the pandemic.
