Indian T20 League 2022 Mega Auction Day 1: Complete List of Players Bought by Franchise
Day 1 of the Indian T20 League 2022 Mega Auction was completely action-packed. It was full of twists and turns, with all teams trying to outbid each other to get the best players in their squad.
While two of the most successful franchises, Team Mumbai and Team Chennai, played the waiting game, their rivals Kolkata and Bangalore did not hesitate in spending some extra money to buy a few key players for the 15th edition of the prestigious T20 tournament. Rajasthan, Punjab and the two new teams, Lucknow and Gujarat, also made the most of their opportunities and went for some big purchases on Saturday.

Most Expensive Buys on Day 1 of the Indian T20 League 2022 Mega Auction
Indian players who were not retained by their respective franchises were expected to be the point of attraction on Day 1. And it did not disappoint. The likes of Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, Deepak Chahar, Harshal Patel and Shardul Thakur went for more than ₹10 Cr.
Ishan Kishan was the most expensive player on Day 1 as he was bought by the Mumbai team for ₹15.25 Cr. The second most expensive player on the day was Deepak Chahar, who was bought by his old team Chennai for ₹14 Cr. Shreyas Iyer joined the Kolkata team as the third most expensive player on Day 1 for ₹12.25 Cr. Last season’s Purple Cap winner Harshal Patel and Shardul Thakur went for ₹10.75 Cr to Bangalore and Delhi, respectively.

10 players were allocated in the marquee list and were the first to go under the hammer on Day 1 of the mega auction. India stars such as Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Ravi Ashwin and Mohd. Shami were part of this list. In the overseas category, David Warner, Pat Cummins, Quinton de Kock, Faf du Plessis, Kagiso Rabada and Trent Boult were on the list. As expected, there was a fierce bidding war for all the players.

Uncapped and capped Indian players such as Devdutt Padikkal, Nitish Rana, Rahul Tripathi, Washington Sundar, Shahrurk Khan, Krunal Pandya, Rahul Tewatia, Avesh Khan and Prasidh Krishna all went for big amounts. Day 1 of the 2022 mega auction also saw a lot of big names go unsold. There were many big players who got no bids on Saturday. Suresh Raina was perhaps the biggest surprise to not receive any bid on Day 1. The other big names who got no takers were Umesh Yadav, Steve Smith, David Miller, Shakib Al Hasan, Mohammad Nabi and Adam Zampa.
